Govt launches PowerTex India scheme for powerloom sector

Union minister of Textile Smriti Irani today launched Powertex India, a comprehensive Powerloom development scheme at Bhiwandi in Thane district near Mumbai. Addressing the event, the minister said that the PowerTex India scheme will benefit the small Power-loom Weavers to survive and prosper. <br/><br/>She said, as the scheme will be implemented, Bhiwandi will be known for resurgence in Power loom sector. Stressing that the government is focused on development of power looms, the Minister informed that for up-gradation of Power loom sector government has increased subsidy by 30 per cent. She also added that 50 percent subsidy will be given to use solar power for Power-loom sector. <br/><br/>Mrs Irani also launched PowerTex India helpline for any assistance. PowerTex india Van was also flagged off for publicity of PowerTex scheme across the country. A film was also screened on the theme.<br/><br/>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis said that this is biggest scheme ever launched in Power loom sector in the country. He expressed hope that in Maharashtra – Bhiwandi, Ichalkaranji, Malegaon and Kolhapur will benefit a lot as these are power loom centers in the state.
