Govt launches Nationwide Come and Play scheme to encourage mass participation in sports

Government on Sunday launched the Nationwide Come and Play scheme to encourage mass participation in sports and optimal utilisation of sports infrastructure. The scheme is targeted at the 8 to 17 age group so that the talent can be nurtured by systematic coaching available in the sports centers. It will ensure access to more than 80 Sports Authority of India ,SAI, facilities to the youth. Launching the scheme Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik said, Come and Play scheme will revolutionise the sports . He emphasised on the need of good coaches to train the upcoming athletes. AIR correspondent says under the Scheme the trainees will be provided with playing arenas ,non-consumable equipment, including field ,track, tables and mats. The Trainees may also bring their personal sports equipment including racquets and bats for practice.
