Govt launches National Tobacco Quit line number

Government today launched National Tobacco Quit line number for those who want to quit tobacco.<br/><br/>The toll free number is 1800-11-2356. Speaking at a programme marking World NO TOBACCO day in New Delhi, Health Minister J P Nadda said, 35 per cent of the country's population is effected by tobacco and half of these people want to quit.<br/><br/>He said, through this helpline number people can get information on how they can quit using tobacco products.<br/><br/>Mr Nadda said, government has taken a number of steps to spread awareness on diseases caused by tobacco.<br/><br/>He said the Ministry has also increased the pictorial warning on tobacco products to 85 per cent.<br/><br/>The Minister also asked states to train health workers to sensitize people about the consequences of tobacco consumption.
