Govt launches diplomatic initiatives to bring perpetrators of Mumabi attack to book

The government said that it has launched sustained diplomatic initiatives to bring pressure on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators and masterminds of Mumabi attack to book. The Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Makan said that the government is also actively pursuing the matter through bilateral channels with Pakistan. He said that these efforts have resulted in the proscription of Leaders of Laskar-e-Toiba and certain other individuals and entities based in Pakistan. In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on the prior information about terror attack in Mumbai, the Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Makan said that the government had received intelligence inputs on the possibility of infiltration by a suspected Laskar-e-Toiba vessel through sea route and this was shared with Coastguard and the Navy. On the progress of the investigations into the Mumbai terror attack and the exchange of dossiers with Pakistan, the Minister informed the House that Islamabad has sought the approval for the visit of a judicial commission to India to seek to record evidence of Judicial Magistrate who recorded Kasab's confessional statements and certain other persons. Ajmal Kasab is the only surviving terrorist accused in the Mumbai attack.
