Govt launches Bal Swachhta Abhiyaan to mark Nehru's 125th birth anniversary.

News ContentThe Ministry for women and child development today launched Bal Swachhta Abhiyaan today on Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's 125th birth anniversary. The abhiyaan is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission. Talking to media on the occasion in an Anganwadi centre, Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said that it is more important to teach the parents about cleanliness.

Under this week long programme, all anganwadi centres and schools will be cleaned and sanitized. The children and their mothers and anganwadi workers will be taught importance of personal hygiene through various methods like story telling,poems,posters, slogans and nukkad sabhas.

Importance on clean food and clean water will also be emphasized under Bal Swachhta Abhiyaan.Various clutural programmes like dace performances and fancy dress show by children and quiz shows were were organised in anganwadi centres to spread the message of cleanliness.

Human Resource Development, HRD Minister Smriti Irani also inaugurated Bal Swachhta Mission at National Bal Bhawan to create awareness about cleanliness and hygiene among the children. Speaking to the reporters, Mrs. Irani said that it is good to see a larger number of students are participating in the cleanliness mission. She also asked the students all across the country to gave their valuable suggestions on how to improve the education in the country on the International students day, which will celebrate on 17th November.

On the issue of stopping the teaching of German language in Kendriya Vidyalayas, she said the decision was taken in the national interest but unfortunately the misinformation has been spreading to create panic among the parents. Earlier Mrs Smriti Irani has asked Kendriya Vidyalayas to stop teaching German as the third language instead of Sanskrit.
