The Ministry for women and child development today launched Bal Swachhta Abhiyaan today on Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's 125th birth anniversary. The abhiyaan is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Talking to media on the occasion in an Anganwadi centre, Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said that it is more important to teach the parents about cleanliness.
Under this week long programme, all anganwadi centres and schools will be cleaned and sanitized. The children and their mothers and anganwadi workers will be taught importance of personal hygiene through various methods like story telling,poems,posters, slogans and nukkad sabhas.
Importance on clean food and clean water will also be emphasized under Bal Swachhta Abhiyaan.Various clutural programmes like dace performances and fancy dress show by children and quiz shows were were organised in anganwadi centres to spread the message of cleanliness .
