Union Health Minister J P Nadda today informed the Lok Sabha that the government has launched second phase of Mission Indradhanush in selected 352 districts in the country. Replying to supplementaries, Mr Nadda said out of these districts, 279 are medium focus districts and remaining 73 are high focus districts. He said Mission Indradhanush was launched on December 25 last year with an aim to cover children who are either partially vaccinated or unvaccinated against seven life threatening diseases.<br/><br/>The minister said the Mission focuses on interventions to improve full immunisation coverage in India from 65 per cent in 2013 to at least 90 per cent in next five years. Mr Nadda said the mission targeted to cover seven vaccine preventable diseases like diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis-B. He informed the members that on November 30th this year, over 27 lakh children were vaccinated of which over 7 lakh children were fully vaccinated.
