Govt launch comprehensive plan to expedite delivery of postal services

Government has launched a comprehensive plan to expedite the delivery of postal services across the country. In the current phase 725 post offices are being upgraded for the purpose in the next financial year. Briefing reporters the Minister of State for Communication and IT Mr. Sachin Pilot said that the Project Arrow plan launched in 2008 will cover 4,000 post offices. <br/><br/>The Minister said that so far one thousand post offices have been upgraded in the first three phases at a cost of 152 crore rupees. Under the project all IT enabled services and the service quality levels are enhanced to ensure speedy delivery and remittances. Mr. Pilot said that the scheme is cost effective and has helped to register an increase of 23 percent in its revenue in the last quarter.
