<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Renuka Singh today informed that the Ministry is keen to promote the minor forest products of Meghalaya and will also form a committee to handle the online marketing aspects of it.<br />''<br />''Following a review meeting on the implementation of various schemes and programmes of the Ministry in Meghalaya at State Secretariat, Shillong; the Union Minister said that the State is rich in minor forest products and the Ministry is committed to using this potential to the optimum to improve the welfare of the tribal.<br />''<br />''"We will make a group of people whose responsibility will be to get the local forest products get it packaged and sell it to the nearby areas," the Union Minister said. She further added that concerned departments will also sell the products to online marketing companies as a result of which local products of the State will be sold throughout the country and the world.<br />''Disclosing about the road map ahead, she said, "The Ministry will organize a tribal festival in Shillong in January- February next year where handicraft artists from Meghalaya as well as other parts of the country will exchange ideas". "The artists would also be registered in The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED)," the Union Minister added.<br />''She also informed that the Ministry is also mulling to establish Van Dhan Vikas Kendra in Meghalaya since the States does not have any such centers.<br />''<br />''District Council Affairs Minister, James Sangma and other officials of the different departments also attended the review meeting chaired by the Union Minister.</span><br />
