Govt. keen to promote films in Bangladesh: Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: #000000;">Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has said that the government is keen to popularise films in Bangladesh for which a special fund of Taka 1000 crore has been created to provide concessional loans to filmmakers.<br />''<br />''He was speaking as Chief Guest during a function to celebrate 60 years of Film Society Movement in Bangladesh and 50 years of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh at Shilpakala Academy at Dhaka on Sunday. <br />''<br />''Dr. Mahmud said that the Film Society Movement has contributed significantly in popularising films and creating audiences for good cinema in Bangladesh over the last six decades.<br />''<br />''The celebration marked the inauguration of the year-long programme of Film Society Movement in Bangladesh. During the year, several programs are scheduled to be held including a film-show on the history of the film society movement in Bangladesh, a  festival showing films made by people working for the Film Society Movement,  seminars, and workshops in 10 districts of the country among others. <br />''<br />''Popular Bangladeshi band 'Joler Gaan' enthralled the audiences with some of its hit songs during the inaugural programme. Fourteen film societies were presented with crests on the occasion to acknowledge their contribution in popularising films in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Film Society was given the diamond crest for its contribution to cinema in Bangladesh over the last six decades. <br />''<br />''National Award winner film 'Laal Morouger Jhuti' directed by Nurul Alam Atique and based on the theme of the liberation war of Bangladesh was also shown on the occasion.</span><br />
