Govt issues passport to Geelani with nine months validity

Government has issued a passport to separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani with a validity of nine months. An official in the regional passport office in Srinagar said that a passport has been issued to the Hurriyat leader yesterday. Geelani had applied for a passport to visit his ailing daughter in Saudi Arabia. Geelani's application for a passport was rejected in May on the grounds of incomplete information provided to the government.
