Govt: Issue on 4.5% reservation for Minorities likely to be heard by SC in July first week

The government today said the issue related to 4.5 per cent sub quota for Minorities with the 27 per cent reservation of Other Backward Classes is likely to be heard by Supreme Court in first week of July .

Talking to media after inaugurating 2 day national conference of State Ministers of Minority Affairs, Union Law and Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khursheed said all formalities have been completed to challlenge Andhra Pradesh High court Judgment. He emphasized that the government is trying to give equal platform of justice to both majority and minority and there is intention to separate them. But he said special attention has to be given to minorities.

Mr Khursheed said that in this connection Sacchar Committee and Rangnath Mishra Commission's suggestions and recommendation will be considered .

He said Prime Minister's 15 point programme is for the development of minorities both socially and economically and these are being implemented sincerely.
