Govt. is working to formulate uniform tax policy for all kinds of LPG consumers: Pradhan

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said the government is working to formulate uniform tax policy for all kinds of LPG consumers to bring transparency in the system. Talking to reporters after a workshop on Carbon Emission Management in New Delhi today, Mr Pradhan said there are different tax structures for different type of consumers in the country and there is a need to have a one-tax pattern, so that there is no adverse impact on revenue.He said, it would also help the government to ensure LPG supply to every household. He informed that Petroleum Ministry would soon send a proposal to revenue department on it. Mr Pardhan expressed hope that by next 4 years the government will able to cover 75 percent of household in the country with LPG connections. At present, around 60 percent of people have LPG connection in the country. Speaking on the issue of carbon emission, Mr Pradhan said the government has taken a number of initiatives during the past one and half years which will directly affect and reduce carbon emissions. He said India has introduced energy efficiency standards for not only consumer products but also industries. Mr Pardhan said India has pledged to improve the carbon emission intensity of its GDP by 33 to 35 percent by 2030 from 2005 level.
