Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said the initiatives taken by his Ministry for welfare of farmers and agriculture sector have started showing positive results. Addressing media on completion of three years of Narendra Modi government, the Minister said as compared to previous government, Modi government has increased the fund for the agriculture sector. <br/><br/>He said foodgrain production during the year 2016-17 have broken all previous records. Mr Singh said the annual growth rate of agriculture and allied sectors have been 4.4 percent this year. <br/><br/>The Agriculture Minister said government is working to double farmers' income by 2022. He said NDA government has succeeded in creating awareness among the farmers about initiatives taken for the development of agriculture sector. He said Ministry is spending more than the budgetary allocation for farmers' welfare. <br/><br/>Mr Singh pointed out that in 2016-17, budgetary allocation was 45,035 crore rupees , which was increased to 57,503 crore rupees in the revised budget. Apart from focusing on distribution of Soil Health Card, extension of irrigation facilities and low cost organic farming, the government also focused on agricultural education, research and extension.
