Govt is taking concrete and coordinated steps against menace of drug abuse: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Drug Abuse, Its Challenges, and Regulation.  <br />''<br />''Chairing the meeting yesterday in New Delhi, Mr. Shah said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision of Drug-Free India, all the agencies, departments, and Ministries are taking concrete and coordinated steps against the menace of drug abuse.<br />''<br />''During the meeting, Mr Shah assured us that government wants to check the supply and smuggling of narcotic substances very strictly and at the same time it is making efforts to bring out the children who have become victims of this habit.<br />''<br />''The Home Minister mentioned that is why a committee consisting of several departments has been formed to prepare a multidimensional strategy to curb the smuggling of narcotics. He informed the members that in the last 3 years,  over 17 lakh kilograms of major drugs amounting to over  12 thousand crore rupees have been seized.<br />''<br />''Union Minister of States for Home Nityanand Rai, Ajay Kumar  Mishra, and Nisith Pramanik also attended the meeting.<br />
