Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the government is planning to develop Eastern Grid with 5,000 kilometers of navigable waterways. Mr Sonowal said this while addressing the 2nd Inland Waterways Summit in New Delhi yesterday. He said, the development of this grid will not only boost regional integration and accelerate development but it will further deepen eastern India's trade within Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Minister said, it will also further amplify trade potential with countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Mr Sonowal said, the government wants to explore this immense potential of trade for the economic progress and development of the eastern part of India. He said Eastern Grid can unlock a multilateral trade potential of 49 billion dollars as the government remains committed to accelerating growth in eastern India.</span><br />
