<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr L Murugan on Friday said that the union government is keen on empowering the people of Lakshadweep, especially women and those belonging to the fishing community.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Dr Murugan, who is also the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying was interacting with members of the women self help groups at Agatti island this afternoon.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also visited the Ornamental Fish Hatchery and the Poultry Farm in the island.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">At Kavaratti, he held discussions with senior officials of the Lakshadweep Administration and reviewed the progress of various development works being undertaken in the archipelago.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Minister who is on a three day visit to Lakshadweep, was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the Agatti airport earlier.</span>
