Government is in favour of regulating sale and purchase of dogs to prevent cruelty against them. Speaking to media in New Delhi today, Environment Minister Anil Dave said, the Ministry has placed the prevention of cruelty to animals (Dog breeding and Marketing) rules-2016 in public domain. <br/><br/>He said, the people can send their suggestions within one month. The Minister said, there are no specific rules or guidelines for mandatory registration of breeders and requirements to be met by them.<br/><br/> Mr Dave said, the main objective of the rule is to make dog breeders and their marketers accountable and prevent any cruelty inflicted in the process. The Minister said, the proposed rules make it mandatory for all dog breeders and the dog breeding establishments to register themselves with the state animal welfare boards.
