Govt is fully committed to completing South Coast Railway zone work at earliest, informs Railway Minister in Lok Sabha

<span style="color: #222222;">Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured that government is fully committed to completing the South Coast Railway zone work at the earliest. Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha as to why the South Coast Railway Zone has not been operationalised as yet, Mr Vaishnaw said prerequisites as building work, site location and DTR were all at an advanced stage of finalisation.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondence reports, The minister also said, steps are being taken to convert the Vijaywada junction into a world-class station as increasing passenger amenities is a continuous process. Mr Vaishnaw said, cleanliness in stations has scaled up in recent times and stations are now better equipped with lifts and escalators.<br />''<br />''He said, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for new Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) on the three routes including East Coast Corridor-Kharagpur to Vijayawada of 1115 kilometres.<br />''<br />''The minister informed the House that the line capacity of Visakhapatnam-Sambalpur and Raipur-Vizianagaram line is also being increased by undertaking multi-tracking works such as doubling of Sambalpur-Titlagarh line and doubling of Raipur-Titlagarh line.</span><br />
