Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, his government is committed to transforming villages and the lives of the poor. Addressing a farmers rally at Belgaum in Karnataka yesterday, Mr Modi said, there is not a single allegation of corruption against his government ever since he has been serving as Pradhan Sevak. He called upon farmers to avail the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which, he said, is now free from all the barriers posed by previous crop insurance schemes.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, the new crop insurance scheme enables farmers to pay minimum premium and claim insurance for monsoon loss, produce loss and loss due to calamities. He asked farmers to join the scheme in large numbers.<br/><br/>Listing out other farmer specific programmes of the central government, the Prime Minister said, soil health card, quality seeds and river linkage programmes will benefit the farmers. He said, MGNREGA scheme has also been remodeled to prioritise water recharge, water conservation and asset creation.<br/><br/>Mr Modi also said, India is a ray of hope in the world economy. He said, whether it is World Bank, International Monetary Fund or world's other rating agencies, all of them agree that if there is a ray of hope in the world economy, it is India. He said, in spite of disturbing environment of slowdown, India is making rapid strides in growth.
