Govt is committed to tackle challenge of terrorism: Cong

The Congress said that the government is committed to effectively deal with the challenge of terrorism. Briefing reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday, Party Spokesman Rashi Alvi said that an effective and strong law is needed to fight the menace.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the division on Motion of Thanks on the President's address in Parliament, Mr Alvi termed it as unfortunate.

He said the opposition should have supported the motion rather than seeking division on the issues of National Counter Terrorism Centre and Sri Lanka.

Referring to the Planning Commission's report on poverty line, Mr Alvi said the decrease in the percentage of poverty line is a good sign. He said it is due to implementation of various schemes for the benefit of the poor people.
