Govt is committed to protect girl child, says Tirath

Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Krishna Tirath has said that the government is committed to protect the girl child and take stringent action against the killing of female foeticide. Speaking at the Dalit Women's conference for peace, equity and progress in New Delhi today, she said the Government has initiated many programmes for the empowerment of Dalit women in the country and is making all efforts for their economic upliftment. <br/><br/>The Minister said that Dalit communities specially women have faced discriminations and exploitations in the society and her Ministry is working to optimise their potential as equal citizens of the country. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that one day conference will discuss economic upliftment of Dalit women and will create a road map for the welfare of their children.<br/>
