Rural Development Minister Choudhury Birender Singh today said the government is committed to eliminate poverty by empowering the poor with the initiatives of rural employment and rural infrastructure. Speaking at a function in New Delhi, after releasing manuals for barefoot technicians in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), Mr Singh said his ministry focuses on building durable good quality and sustainable assets as well as employment promotion in rural areas. He said, 10,000 bare foot technicians have already been trained for MNREGA.<br/><br/>The minister also released an impact assessment study of improved rural road maintenance system under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.<br/><br/>
