Govt institutes award for recognition of outstanding work done to check human trafficking

The government has instituted awards for recognition of outstanding work done to check human trafficking in the country. The awards will be given in three different categories. The first category is for states in which two awards each of 2 lakhs will be given. While in second category, three awards will be given to individual officers of states. It will carry a commendation and 1.5 lakhs rupees. The third Category is for non-government organisations in which two awards of 75 thousand rupees each will be given.

According to an official release, the Home Ministry has also constituted a three member committee headed by former Home Secretary G. K. Pillai to shortlist the awardees from the nominations. The Ministry has also sought nominations till the 5th of next month in this regard.
