Govt inks MoU with UIDAI to identifying real job card holders under MGNREGA

The Ministry of Rural Development has signed a memorandum of Understanding with the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI), which will help in identifying the real job card holders, besides checking their attendance at the work site and payments given through bank accounts under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, (MGNREGA). The agreement was signed between Rural Development Minister C P Joshi and Chairman of UIDAI Nandan Nilekani at a function in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Joshi said, it will help in overall delivery system in the implementation of MGNREGA. Calling for empowering the marginalised sections of society, he said, the unique identity will bring the poor into the main stream. Mr Nilekani said that implementation of UID in rural Job scheme will help identify the real beneficiaries.
