The government says, the inflation for the current fiscal will be around 6.5 to 7.5 per cent and steps will have to be taken to address supply constraints. He was commenting on the Wholesale Price Index, which inched up to 7.55 per cent in May a marginal increase of 0.32 percent from April. The increase is due spurt in prices of potato, pulses and wheat, although onion and fruits showed a declining trend. Mukherjee said the core inflation, which has moved marginally to 5.74 per cent in May, is continuously coming down from December onwards. It was 8.31 per cent in December 2011.
