Government has increased the allocation of Power Ministry by 33 percent to around 14 thousand crore rupees in General Budget as part of its major thrust on rural electrification. <br/><br/>The allocation for Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana has been increased from 3,350 crore to 4,814 crore rupees. <br/><br/> Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said the budgetary allocation for Integrated Power Development Scheme for urban areas has also been hiked to 5,821 crore rupees.<br/><br/>He said the government is on its way to achieve 100 percent rural electrification by 1st May of next year. The Minister said the custom duty on all parts used to manufacture LED luminaries has been reduced to 5 percent to promote domestic value addition.<br/><br/>Allocation for Mines Ministry has also been increased by 12 percent to 1,213 crorre rupees.
