In Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti inaugurated 'Jan Aushadhi Medical Store' in Jhansi today. This is first of its kind store in Budelkhand region of UP to facilitate the common people to buy generic medicines at reasonable prices. <br/><br/>On this occasion, Ms Uma Bharti said that more such stores will be opened at various places of Bundelkhand so that medicines can be made available to people on cheaper rates. She said that these stores will pave a path to better health care with cheaper medicines.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the programme has been initiated by department of Pharmaceuticals, ministry of Chemical & Fertilisers to launch a Jan Aushadhi Medical Stores for the sale of generic medicines through dedicated sale outlets in various districts of the country.<br/>The program was envisaged to be launched, in associations with the Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings (CPSU) as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities agenda. The roles of various other stakeholders, including the state governments were defined for implementing the scheme in a campaign mode.
