Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal has said that government is in favour of bringing Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI under the ambit of Right to Information Act.In an exclusive interview to AIR, Mr Sonowal said that sports bodies which work in public interests must come under the purview of accountability. Mr Sonowal said that his Ministry is willing to work with sports federations to promote greater transparency in their functioning. To promote sporting talent in the country, he said, the government will introduce National Sports Talent Search scheme for identification of children in the age group of 8-12 years with potential to become good players in different sports. The Minister said, a committee named Target Olympic Podium has been set up to select 150 athletes to nurture their talent as per international level sports competitions. He said government will provide all facilities to the selected athletes.
