Govt hospitals identified in Golden Quadrilateral to provide trauma care

140 government hospitals situated along the Golden Quadrilateral North-South and East-West Corridors of the National Highways, have been identified for the development of trauma care facilities. This was stated in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today by Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said that these trauma care facilities are in various Medical Colleges, District Hospitals and Sub-District Hospitals. The Minister said the scheme was started during the 11th Five Year Plan. So far, 116 government hospitals in 16 States have been funded towards various components, in stages, as per norms of the scheme.
Mr. Azad said that the National Highway Authority of India has also deployed 223 Basic Life Support Ambulances at every 50 kms. on the identified national highways. He said that in addition to this 70 Advance Life Support Ambulances to 70 identified government hospitals have been supplied by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
