Government is hopeful that the target to reduce energy consumption by 5 percent will be achieved fully by the end of the 11th five year plan. This was revealed by Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi on Thursday. Under the set target, the Government aims to avoid capacity addition of 10 thousand mega watts. This will help save an additional investment of over one lakh crore rupees in generation, transmission and distribution of power. Mr Shide said that the energy conservation and efficiency improvement in Small and Medium Enterprises is the top priority for the government in the power sector.
