Govt hopeful Time-Bound Services Bill will be passed in Winter Session

The government is hopeful that the bill providing for time bound delivery of citizens’ services will be passed in the winter session of Parliament. The session begins from 22nd of this month. In an interview to AIR, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayansamy said that the draft of the bill has been unveiled to get a response from all stakeholders to deal with corruption at the lower level.

The draft makes it mandatory for any authority to respond to the demands of citizens within 15 days or face action. Narayansamy said a five fold strategy has been prepared to deal with the menace of corruption comprehensively.

The Minister said, the Lokpal bill dealing with corruption at higher levels will be introduced in the coming session. Narayansamy hoped that the standing committee will submit its report on the bill early next month and it will be passed in Parliament. Apart from this, he said a bill has been prepared to deal with corruption in the judiciary.
