In the backdrop of economic crisis in the Euro Zone casting a shadow on the country's exports, the government hopes that there will be a turnout in exports by this October. Reviewing the export performance with apex industry chambers and trade bodies in New Delhi, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said the incentives announced in June this year would help in reviving the exports. He said, the government will be able to bring about a positive improvement and exports will enter a strong positive territory. The Commerce minister noted that the performance in July this year has been worrisome as exports have dipped by 14.8 per cent compared to last year. He termed as a cause of serious concern the decline in exports. He said the government is anticipating a contraction in decline of exports.Mr Sharma said, the Commerce Secretary and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, DGFT, have been tasked to travel to major export cities and destinations to address the problems of exporters. The minister explained that efforts are on to bring down the transaction cost.
