Govt hikes minimum wage for contract workers to Rs 10000

The minimum wage for contract workers has been increased to ten thousand rupees per month. This was informed by Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in the Lok Sabha today. He said that the wage hike has been done based on a Supreme Court verdict. Asserting that the government is committed towards the betterment of the working class, Mr Dattatreya said workers are being protected through all the rights. He said, the Ministry has also linked the minimum wage to pension and bonus.On April 17, Mr Dattatreya had said the government would bring out an executive order to ensure that contract workers get a minimum wage of 10,000 rupees per month.
