The government today announced ten percent increase in the Dearness Allowance of central government employees and Pensioners from July this year. A decision to this effect was made by the Union Cabinet which met in New Delhi. According to an official press release the total impact on the exchequer will be over 9 thousand three hundred crore rupees annually, while six thousand two hundred crore rupees for the current financial year. In another decision, Cabinet approved various issues concerning this year's Haj pilgrimage. There will be approximately one lakh seventy thousand pilgrims going from the country to perform Haj. 'The quota for the Haj is being decided by the Saudi government. Air travel arrangements for one lakh twenty five thousand pilgrims going through Haj Committee will be made by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the pilgrims will be airlifted from 21 places. Out of them each pilgrim going for Haj will have to pay 16 thousand rupees plus airport charges as air fare and the rest will be borne by the government.The Cabinet also approved amendments to the forward contracts regualtion Act to establish the Forward Markets Commission. The Commission will have autonomy and power to regulate the market effectively besides allowing new products in the commodity market. The Cabinet also gave its green signal to amendment in the Labour's Law Act to benefit establishments employing upto 40 workers in maintaining registers and submitting returns electronically. In another decision Cabinet approved the revival plan of the National Film Development Corporation. Under the plan additional equity of three crore rupees will be infused in the Corporation.In another decision, the Cabinet gave its nod to the introduction of multi state cooperative societies amendment bill. The objective of the Bill is to ensure member's active participation in the affairs of the society.
