<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said that the government has taken up two pilot projects for laying Optical Fibre Cable along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Hyderabad-Bangalore Highway, covering a total distance of 1880 kms. Replying to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha today, he said based on the experience and learning of the pilot projects and outcome of feasibility studies, a program of OFC laying for the network of National Highways in the country would be framed.<br />''<br />''He said land is available at a width of up to 120 meters on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway for expanding it up to 16 lanes, besides using it for constructing track for bullet trains and Hyperloop. The minister said the pilot project to make an e-Highway on Delhi-Jaipur Expressway will allow trucks and buses to make use of overhead electric cables.</span><br />
