<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of Power R K Singh today said under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) 25 crore pre-paid smart meters would be installed across the country.<br />'' <br />'' In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Mr Singh informed the Government has provided funds to the state for implementation of smart prepaid metering.<br />'' <br />''The minister said this new smart metering system eliminates human intervention in metering, billing, and collection and also provides consumers the choice to calibrate their consumption to their actual requirement on a near real-time basis. Mr. Singh said the system also eliminates inefficiencies in losses due to theft and reduces Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses.</span><br />
