Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said, government has no plans to curtail supply of subsidised cooking gas from 12 cylinders per household in a year. In a press release, Mr Pradhan said Friday that the modified Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG, DBTL, will be launched in 54 districts on 15th of next month. He said that the government would cover majority of the consumers by June next year under the ambit of DBTLHe said that the Cabinet had approved modified DBTL Scheme last week to provide cash subsidy. Mr Pradhan said, it is not mandatory to have an Aadhar number under the revised DBTL scheme to get the subsidy. Seeding of Aadhar number with bank account was mandatory in the original scheme launched by the previous UPA government. He said that consumers who have opened accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojana would also benefit from the revised scheme. On Friday, the minister reviewed via video conferencing the preparedness of Oil Marketing Companies to launch the scheme.
