The Government today said it has no objection to Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq travelling to China or anywhere else he wanted to. Minister of External Affairs S M Krishna said this in the wake of reports that Mirwaiz had got an invitation from an NGO in China to attend a function which he was planning to attend.
Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao also said, the government has not prevented Kashmiri leaders from travelling abroad. Addressing a news conference in New Delhi, she however, said if the question is in the context of approach taken by the Chinese government of issuing visas to Indian citizens resident of Jammu and Kashmir on separate sheets of paper instead of passport, the Indian government does not subscribe to this approach which discriminates on the basis of domicile.
