Govt. has no intention of regulating media says new I & B Minister Manish Tewari

Newly appointed Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari has made it clear that the government has no intention of regulating the media.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Sunday, he maintained that self regulation is the best regulation and all stakeholders will have to take steps to move up to that trajectory.

When asked about the UPA-II getting adverse publicity and his plan of action, Mr Tiwari denied any plan to curb the media. He thanked Prime Minister for giving him this opportunity.

After his appointment as the Union Minister, Mr Tewari visited Congress headquarters and met senior leaders including AICC General Secretary and Media Department in-charge Janardan Dwivedi.
