Govt has established 2,000 drinking water testing labs at block and district levels: Gajendra Shekhawat

Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday said his Ministry is working on to improve drinking water quality in the country and has established two thousand drinking water testing labs at block and district levels.<br />''<br />''He said, six thousand labs are in the pipeline which will be completed within one year. Virtually addressing India Sanitation Conclave, he said, Ministry has trained more than seven lakh women to measure drinking water quality in rural areas, who will collect water samples and send its report to a centralised web platform.<br />''<br />''Mr. Shekhawat said, It will not only help to measure and monitor drinking water but also create employment opportunities.<br />''He said, every year more then 3 lakh people die due to consumption of dirty drinking water but due to initiative of the government the lives have been saved.<br />''<br />''Mr. Shekhawat stressed on saving groundwater and urged people not to waste it. He requested Industries and civic bodies to contribute in creating awareness about conserving groundwater. <br />
