Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the Central government has decided to promote green energy and green fuels.<br/><br/>Calling bio-CNG, ethanol and methanol cost-effective, pollution-free and import substitute alternatives, Nitin Gadkari said the use of these alternative fuels will boost the agriculture sector and create new jobs.<br/><br/>He said the production of 'ethanol' from bagasse should be given priority in sugar factories, which will generate sustainable employment. <br/><br/>Gadkari was speaking at national conference on 'Ethanol as Transport Fuel' organised,at the Central Road Transport Institute (CIRT), Bhosari, in Pune. <br/><br/>Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, State Minister for Cooperation Subhash Deshmukh, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Girish Bapat, were present.<br/>'<br/>Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmesh Pradhan said his ministry was in the last stage of finalising the 'new national policy on bio-fuels'. <br/><br/>Pradhan said, "Ethanol supply for blending with petrol had increased to 111 crore litres in 2015-2016 from 15.4 crore litres in 2011. Similarly, the rate of return has been upwardly revised by over 40 per cent to benefit farmers." <br/>
