The government has binding commitment to economic reforms and is working towards investor friendly policies. Talking to reporters in Chandigarh yesterday, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said that the government is taking steps to bring the economy on the right track. Regarding consensus on allowing FDI in multi-brand retail, the Minister said several Chief Ministers are yet to respond on the issue.He said that before taking a final decision on the issue, he would like all the Chief Ministers to respond. The decision to allow 51 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail was announced in November last year.The Commerce and Industry Minister added that Delhi-Mumbai corridor project is entering implementation phase now. He said that this project would benefit Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat including Haryana and special purpose vehicle would be set up for implementation of the project.Mr. Sharma also said that Manesar-Bawal Investment Region has been declared as one of the first eight National Manufacturing Investment Zones to be developed as green field integrated industrial townships.
