The government has released grant in aid worth of nearly 158 crore rupees to the State Government of Tamil Nadu to provide safe drinking water in rural areas under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) during this fiscal. <br/><br/>According to the Ministry of Rural Development, NRDWP, a component of Bharat Nirman, is one of the flagship schemes with an objective to provide safe drinking water to all households in rural areas, while ensuring convergence with related programmes and involvement of the Panchayati Raj Institutions.<br/>
