Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha on Friday said that the government has accorded high priority to protect consumer's interest. Delivering valedictory address at National Standards Conclave in New Delhi, Mr Sinha said, the government has approved a proposal to amend the existing Consumer protection Act by incorporating a chapter of product liability. He said, the government is giving due importance to ensure quality and standards in products. He said, setting up of standards is not only the duty of government but also all the stakeholders will have to play their role in it. Mr Sinha said standards are important for value added manufacturing to move up in the production value chain.
