Govt. gives nod to hire youth to support Rural drinking water & sanitation programme

The government has given its go ahead for hiring services of about 21,000 youths to support the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation programme. According an official release these young men and women will work for community mobilisation, awareness , training, sanitation and hygiene and other related programmes . This is to enable Gram Panchayats and other related organisations to manage drinking water schemes and achieve total sanitation. AIR correspondent reports that decision is also aimed at strengthening the decentralisation process as well. The decision has been taken in view of lack of adequate human resources for the purpose.
