The government granted environmental clearance to South Korean steel major POSCO to set up its steel plant in Odisha. The Environment Ministry has however imposed 28 additional conditions as part of the environmental clearance for the plant.A government panel had earlier said there were no ecological concerns over the plant.AIR correspondent reports, environment ministry has asked POSCO to make a detailed assessment of the impacts on fishing communities in the vicinity of the steel plant site.The Ministry has also asked Posco to ensure that no industrial activity is carried out coastal regulatory zone area other than those permissible. The environment ministry has also given a guideline that no construction shall be undertaken in the high erosion zone.
