The government on Friday said, it is on its priority to get passed all the important legislations including GST in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament beginning 18th of this month. <br/><br/>Talking to AIR on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the government is fully hopeful of passing the Goods and Services Tax Bill during the session. Mr Rudy said, MPs cutting across party lines are of the opinion that the GST should be brought in the House as it is beneficial to the country as well as its economy.<br/><br/>On Congress' opposition to the GST Bill, Mr Rudy said, the government is trying to evolve a consensus on the bill by taking the party on board through consultation.<br/><br/>The GST Bill, which has been approved by the Lok Sabha, is pending in the Rajya Sabha because of stiff resistance by the Congress, the largest party in the House, over a few proposals.The GST aims at integrating the country into a common market by removing barriers to trade that exist across states. It will subsume all indirect taxes of the Centre and states, including excise duty, value-added tax, service tax and octroi.
