In Puducherry the legislative assembly the Lt. Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan assured that the government is fully committed to provide Education, Health, clean drinking water, employment generation and ensure the socio-economic development of the people of the Union Territory of Puducherry. She also listed out the achievements of the government on various fields throughout the year. Dr. Tamilisai was addressing the assembly as a mark of the beginning of the budget session. Earlier in the month of March, only Vote on account was passed till July.<br />'' <br />'' The Opposition members led by Congress and DMK who were in black dress opposed the Lt. Governor's address raised slogans in the assembly and later staged a walkout.<br />'' <br />'' Chief Minister N. Rangasamy who is also holding the Finance Portfolio was expected to present the Budget today, however, the assembly was adjourned sine die immediately after the Lt. Governor address.<br />'' <br />'' Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly R. Selvam said that the motion to thank the Lt. Governor's address would be taken at a later date and adjourned the assembly.Later the speaker explained that the house was adjourned to enable the members to participate in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities.<br />'' <br />'' However, the opposition slammed the state government for not getting the requisite funds from the Central Government.<br />'' <br />'' It may be recalled that the Chief Minister of Puducherry N. Rangasamy left for Delhi yesterday to meet the Prime Minister to request for an increase in the Central Assistance given to the Union Territory.<br />'' <br />''The state government was demanding at least &nbsp;2000 crore rupees from the central government, whereas only 1724 Crore Rupees was sanctioned this year, which is around 150 crore Rupees lesser than what was allocated the previous financial year.
