Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said comprehensive policies are being framed to weed out the menace of Left wing extremism. Addressing a press conference on 100 days of his Ministry in New Delhi, Singh said, policies to tackle extremism in various parts of the country like Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Central India are also being given a final shape.
He said paramilitary and other forces are being strengthened to increase their operational efficiency. The Minister said, government is proposing to computerise the functioning of all the Central Armed Police Forces.
He said, his ministry has sent an advisory to all states and union territories to fill 33 percent of vacancies up to sub inspector level with women in state police. Mr Singh said, a maritime police training centre will be set up in Gujarat to strengthen coastline security.
He said an integrated action plan for strengthening internal security has been prepared after consultations with all stakeholders. The Minister said, he has written to all Chief Ministers to expedite cases relating to under-trial prisoners.
Rajnath Singh said, the government has been successful in ending the economic blockade in Manipur in seven days. He said, the authenticity of Al Qaeda video threatening to launch its branch in the Indian subcontinent is being verified. He said, ban on SIMI will continue for another five years. He said, security challenges arising out of withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan are also being taken into account. He said, the Ministry has started an online visa system in twelve countries in the past 100 days and introduced Visa on arrival facility at nine airports in the country.
The Home Minister said, cash assistance to Kashmiri migrants increased from RS 6,600 to Rs 10,000 rupees per month. He also mentioned that the economic package of Rs 500 crore rupees to Kashmiri migrants announced in Budget has been approved by the government. Singh said he has written to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to identify land in the valley so that Kashmiri migrants can go back home.
Replying to a question on current deadlock over government formation in Delhi, Rajnath Singh said the Lieutenant Governor will take a decision on it. He said the Lieutenant Governor has not sought any advice from the Home Ministry on the matter.
To a question on Election Commission direction that an FIR be lodged against BJP leader Yogi Adityanath for violating model code of conduct, the Minister said law will take its own course in the case.
When asked about Ram Temple construction issue, he said government will wait for court verdict before taking any steps.
On his relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the relations have been cordial and will remain so in future. He said Modi is a respectable and efficient leader.
On whether Prime Minister will raise border disputes with visiting Chinese President, he said the Prime Minister will take up whatever needs to be discussed with the Chinese leader. Rajnath Singh said the Prime Minister is fully aware of security situation of the country.
